U.S. natural gas inventories higher than at any point in the nation's history The recession has kept natural gas demand low most of the year.
With manufacturers shuttering factories and closing offices, the country is using less electricity and power plants are burning less natural gas.
Analyst Stephen Schork noted that with industrial production still weak, home heating would be the primary source of natural gas demand for the rest of the year.

Chief Executive Officer Bill Hawkins last week issued a statement praising U.S. Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer for being instrumental in reducing the size of the proposal.
The new proposal amends the Senate Finance Committee's earlier plans for a $40 billion fee on the medical device industry.
The fees would have made the U.S. the most expensive country in the world to develop and produce medical technology, Hawkins said.

Given that the Rasmussen poll in question had some data that hinted at a GOP skew (the 55% job approval for President Obama, for example), the news on the Senate race has to be considered very good news for Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer.
In the new Rasmussen poll, she leads both of her likely Republican challengers (Carly Fiorina and Chuck DeVore) by nearly identical margins.
She leads Fiorina by nine (46-37) and leads Devore by a ten-point margin (49-39).

One Marine's mother says she's had enough of what she calls a lack of support for troops, so she's created an organization called "Protect Our Warriors."

The Republican answer to Sen. Barbara Boxer says she would not be alive today if she followed the mammograms guideline put out by the U.S. Preventive Task Force.
The government-appointed panel of medical experts said earlier this week that it no longer recommends routine mammograms and breast self-exams for women under 50.
And women over the mid-century mark only need to undergo the preventative measure every other year.

Senators from both parties are pushing to free up billions of dollars for federal highway projects, as Congress looks to infrastructure investment to combat double-digit unemployment.
Federal highway funds to states could drop by an average of $1 billion a month, or 30%, from year-ago levels without a change in the law to fix a technicality, Transportation Department officials warned Congress this week.
The money is there, but states won't be authorized to spend it without the change, government officia

Maybe it was Washington's cold and rainy weather.
Maybe it was the Saturday work sessions (one down, one to go tomorrow).
But leaders in Washington have been in one foul mood all week, with the result being an unusually ugly round of bipartisan barbs flying across Capitol Hill.
But rather than lament the lack of civility, the Capitolist presents you with our first-ever awards for the top insults hurled between and about lawmakers in Washington this week.
